Welcome to the Pol'n'Folk Journal - Stories, Traditions and the Spirit of Community

Updated: Jul 3

The Vision Behind the Pol'n'Folk Journal

Every culture has its stories.

Some are written in books. Others are carried in songs, family traditions, handmade crafts and the changing rhythm of the seasons. Some are whispered around campfires, shared across generations or remembered through the simple act of gathering together.

The Pol'n'Folk Journal was created to celebrate those stories.

Our journey begins with the rich heritage of Poland and the wider Slavic world—a culture filled with ancient traditions, folklore, music, seasonal celebrations and a deep connection with nature. But this journal is about more than history.

It is about people.

It is about community.

It is about discovering the traditions that continue to shape who we are today.

Pol'n'Folk Journal is More Than a History Blog

This is not a history textbook.

Nor is it simply a festival blog.

The Pol'n'Folk Journal is a place where heritage comes alive through stories, research, personal experiences and the people who keep traditions alive today.

Here you'll discover articles exploring Slavic mythology, Polish folk customs, seasonal festivals, traditional music, crafts, food and the fascinating beliefs that have been passed from generation to generation.

Alongside these, we'll also share the journey of building Pol'n'Folk Festival—the ideas, challenges, milestones and memorable moments that shape our growing community.

Think of this journal as both a library and a diary.

A place to learn.

A place to remember.

And a place where new stories begin.

Looking Beyond Borders

Although our roots are firmly planted in Polish and Slavic heritage, our curiosity reaches much further.

Across the world, cultures have celebrated the changing seasons, honoured nature, gathered around music and shared stories for thousands of years.

In time, this journal will also explore traditions from other cultures whose values resonate with the spirit of Pol'n'Folk—respect for nature, community, creativity and cultural heritage.

Not to compare them but to celebrate the beautiful diversity of human traditions and the surprising connections that unite us.

Because while every culture tells its story differently, many share the same universal themes: belonging, gratitude, renewal and the desire to gather together.

Following the Journey of Pol'n'Folk

This journal will also become the living story of Pol'n'Folk Festival.

As our festival grows, we'll take you behind the scenes to share its evolution—from the first ideas and planning stages to the people, music and memories that make each edition unique.

You'll meet artists, makers, musicians, volunteers and storytellers who help bring the festival to life.

We'll celebrate successes, learn from challenges and preserve the moments that deserve to be remembered long after the final campfire has faded.

Years from now, we hope these pages will tell the story not only of a festival, but of a community growing together.

Why We Created This Journal

We believe that traditions are not meant to stay hidden in museums.

They live through people.

Through conversations.

Through shared meals.

Through music.

Through laughter around a fire.

Through the stories we choose to keep telling.

The Pol'n'Folk Journal exists to help preserve those stories while inspiring new ones.

Whether you're exploring your own roots, discovering Slavic heritage for the first time or simply searching for a deeper connection with culture, nature and community, we hope you'll find something here that speaks to you.

Join Us on the Journey

This is only the beginning.

With every article, every festival, every shared story and every changing season, the Pol'n'Folk Journal will continue to grow.

We invite you to explore, ask questions, share your own experiences and become part of this journey, because heritage isn't only something we inherit but that we continue to create—together.

Welcome to the Pol'n'Folk Journal.

We're so glad you're here.
